The following is a link to an article which appeared in the Sunday Telegraph 18.10.09 and is an important confirmation of the Conservative position.
Welcome to Exmoor, one of Britain's few remaining areas of wild moorland. In earlier times, Exmoor was a Royal Forest and staghunting has taken place here for over a thousand years. Here you can read all of our latest news, even before it published on the main website.

DO NOT BUY LUSH !
The cosmetics company Lush is launching a bubble bath it hopes will raise tens of thousands of pounds for anti-blood sports activists who sabotage fox hunts.
The Hunt Saboteurs Association will be the latest beneficiary of proceeds from Lush, the ethical producer of handmade soaps which has gained a reputation for backing radical protest groups.
The citronella and peppermint bubble bath, called The Fabulous Mr Fox, will arrive on the shelves in the coming weeks and will be on sale until Boxing Day, a traditional day for fox hunts. The company hopes the product will raise £50,000 for the activists, and said they money will be used to fund vehicles and video equipment.
Mark Constantine, the 59-year-old co-founder of Lush, which is based in Poole, Dorset, has previously donated large portions of his profits to human rights groups, animal welfare organisations and environmental protesters such as Plane Stupid, who promote non-violent civil disobedience to opposed airport expansion.
Proceeds from the Lush cosmetics empire, which is thought to be worth around £150m, have also been used to fund campaigns to support Sumatran orangutans and oppose the widening of the M1 motorway. Sea Shepherd, a guerilla conservation group that operates vessels to scupper rival ships it finds whaling in the middle of the ocean, has received £22,000 from the sale of Lush products.
Lush, founded by Constantine in 1995, has become a multinational company, with branches in north America, Japan and Australia.
The company claims to give around 2% of profits to charity and is keen to promote itself as an ethical brand. Constantine said funding activists groups was "central to what we do".

Frampton Country Fair
For the second year running the D&S hounds were asked to parade at Frampton Country Fair in Gloucestershire. This year we were also invited to enter a hunt team in the Inter-Hunt Competition. In the team were Rupert Andrews and Paul Marks (Skiddy) running and Tessa Hayes and Alex Batstone riding. All four were extremely competitive, winning the first heat and then going on to win the whole event. Somewhat of a surprise to some of the teams from jumping countries!! Janet Ackner and Lettie Noel provided the two speedy horses on the day. Well done to everyone.

Keep Equine Passports at the Ready !
From 1st August you have to be able to produce your equine passport if you are stopped by the police when travelling with your horse in either a trailer or horse box. If you don't have it/them with you, there is, at the moment, a three hour "let" for you to get it and produce it at your local police station. If you cannot do this there is a £5,000 fine (I believe this is for each horse).

Last Hunt Prosecution Dropped
Last hunt prosecution dropped
The League Against Cruel Sports (LACS) has dropped its private prosecution of four members of the Isle of Wight Hunt, which was the last hunt prosecution adjourned pending a recent High Court judgment.
Prosecutions against the Heythrop Hunt and
Simon Hart, Chief Executive of the Countryside Alliance said: "This is the clearest possible evidence that the Hunting Act is on borrowed time. Technically it remains on the statute book, but in practice today even the organisation that promoted this Act and which is its greatest defender has had to admit that it has failed. The only question that now remains is when the Hunting Act will be repealed and the pointless pressure on the police and the courts removed. This is yet more evidence of the need to scrap this act at the earliest possible oppotunity.
"LACS has told us that practically every time hounds leave their kennels an offence is being committed. They have told us that the 'exemptions' are tightly drawn and that hunting with a bird of prey cannot be done. Well they made the decision to prosecute this case on the basis that it was the strongest they had and yet it has not even got to trial. They have admitted what we have known for a long time - the Act is unworkable."
